Hardik Patel joins Congress, will contest in Lok Sabha Election from Gujarat
Ahmedabad : The leader of Patidar movement in Gujarat, Hardik Patel will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Gujarat, he has joined the Congress during the Congress Working Committee meeting in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat on Tuesday. All the senior leaders of Congress including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, CM Gehlot, Sachin Pilot and KC Venugopal were also present in the meeting.
During the joining of Congress, Hardik Patel said that Gandhiji had done Dandi March on this day and today i am joining the Congress. He further added that, the party will decide that where to contest election him. On the other hand, Hardik Patel On Sunday announced that he will contest elections from Jamnagar constituency.
It is notable that, to win the Lok Sabha elections Congress is taking complete focus on the Gujarat, whereas the Congress has given a tough fight to the ruling party BJP in the last assembly elections here. Hardik Patel had risen to prominence when he led an agitation by the Patidar community in 2015, demanding that the community should get benefits of the quota for backward castes.
